The head cone or face centres the insert in its pocket, and the star recess delivers torque through a small head diameter. Threads are usually fine pitch, which produces more preload in a short length and reduces the tendency to back out under vibration.
installed by torqued to the tool maker's value.
Do not mix lots in one pocket; friction coefficient differences shift the preload that a given torque produces.

Hardness and tensile strength are sampled to GB/T 3098.1; class 12.9 parts undergo the GB/T 3098.17 preload test.Alternative materials and finishes can be quoted side by side during sampling, so cost and corrosion resistance can be traded off explicitly.
