A captive screw is restrained on the panel by a retaining ring, a shoulder or a pressed sleeve: it can move axially but cannot come free, so removing a cover never leaves a screw on the floor. Spring-loaded versions push the panel away as the screw is released, giving fingers room to grip.
Material: Carbon Steel / Stainless Steel. The panel is mounted with the screw retained in the ferrule.
Panel thickness decides the retention style: pressed sleeve for thin panels, ring for thicker ones.

| Type | Captive screw |
| Standard | GB/T 90.1, customer drawing |
| Installation | panel mounted with the screw retained |
| Typical substrate | panels and access covers |
| Key inspections | retention load, spring fatigue, thread gauging |
Retention pull test: the screw must not separate under the specified axial load.We recommend a pilot assembly at the actual torque and mating part before locking the process parameters for volume.
