The two thread ends can share a hand or run in opposite directions. With opposite hands, turning the screw moves both mating parts in opposite axial directions at once, closing or opening the gap without dismantling anything. That behaviour is used in tool adjustment heads and precision fixtures.
This page covers M2.5-M4 in SCM435 alloy steel, with black oxide, zinc-nickel, dlc as the standard finish.property class 12.9; installed by locked after adjustment.
Adjustment resolution is set by the sum of the two pitches; to go finer, reduce pitch rather than increase diameter.
| Size range | M2.5-M4 |
|---|---|
| Configuration | Double-ended (same direction / LH + RH) |
| Material | SCM435 alloy steel |
| Property class | 12.9 |

| Standard | GB/T 3098.1, GB/T 197 |
| Installation | locked after adjustment |
| Typical substrate | tool adjustment heads and precision fixtures |
| Key inspections | coaxiality, adjustment travel |
Each thread is gauged separately, and coaxiality is sampled on a runout fixture. We recommend a pilot assembly at the actual torque and mating part before locking the process parameters for volume.
