The design suits low-strength base materials — aluminium, zinc alloys, engineering plastics — because the base does not have to survive tapping torque, while the insert provides the high-strength internal thread for the bolt. The cutting slots also act as anti-rotation features, so the insert does not spin out with the bolt.
Material: Stainless Steel / Carbon Steel. It is driven straight into the pilot hole and cuts its own thread.
For blind holes choose the slotted type so chips have an escape path; for through holes on a fast line, the three-hole type is quicker.
| Material | Stainless Steel / Carbon Steel |
|---|---|
| Type | Self-tapping threaded insert |
| Standard | GB/T 197 (6H internal thread), company standard |
| Installation | driven directly into the pilot hole (self-threading) |
| Typical substrate | aluminium, zinc alloy, engineering plastics |
| Key inspections | driving torque, internal thread gauging, failure torque |
Driving and failure torque are sampled per lot, with the range recorded.Alternative materials and finishes can be quoted side by side during sampling, so cost and corrosion resistance can be traded off explicitly.
