Product overviewOverview

Bits fail either by tip wear or by torsional fracture. S2 steel quenched and tempered to roughly HRC 60 wears slowly but has limited toughness; tip geometry decides contact area, and a tip that is slightly off-size concentrates load on the lobe tips and multiplies wear rate.

Material: S2 Alloy Steel. It is installed by 1/4-inch chuck on electric or pneumatic driver.

Key featuresFeatures

  • S2 alloy steel quenched and tempered to about HRC 60.
  • Tip ground to the standard recess form for six-lobe face contact.
  • 1/4-inch hex shank fits electric and pneumatic drivers.
  • Full T6–T40 range to match the recess sizes in use.

Typical applicationsApplications

  • Consumer electronics assembly
  • Robotic driving stations
  • Precision instrument service

Selection notesSelection

Match bit to recess type (standard or enhanced); mixing them accelerates wear on both parts.

Frequently asked questionsFAQ

How do I specify the TORX Screwdriver Bit?
Match bit to recess type (standard or enhanced); mixing them accelerates wear on both parts. Material: S2 Alloy Steel. It is installed by 1/4-inch chuck on electric or pneumatic driver.
What matters during installation of the TORX Screwdriver Bit?
Match the bit size to the recess designation — the next size up will cam out and damage both parts S2 alloy steel quenched and tempered to about HRC 60.

Manufacturing and inspection

Tip dimensions are checked on a profile projector against the recess standard. We recommend a pilot assembly at the actual torque and mating part before locking the process parameters for volume.
