Joint reliability depends on the contact area between bulge and hole wall, the bearing area of the flange, and the strength of the sheet itself. A hex body in a hex hole carries torque on the flats, which is more reliable than knurling in soft or thin sheet. The flush finish means the nut sits level with the surface, so the panel face stays usable and the nut cannot be gripped from outside.
Material: Carbon Steel / Stainless Steel. It is set from one side with a rivet-nut tool.
The hole has to be formed to the hex; in a round hole the body has no flats to react against and the anti-rotation benefit disappears.
