A self-clinching nut is held by cold flow, not by thread friction. Thin sheet gives the undercut little material to work with, and vibration adds a load the joint was not designed for. The anti-loosening feature acts on the thread side, so it does not compensate for a weak clinch; both have to be right.
Material: Carbon Steel / Stainless Steel. It is pressed into a prepared hole with a clinching press, working from one side.
Hole diameter follows the thickness and material table; stainless sheet needs a slightly larger hole and more press force.
