O-ring sealing is compression sealing. An O-ring seals by controlled compression in a groove, so groove depth and the surface it bears on decide the result. A face that is scored or not square loads the ring unevenly, and the leak appears on the side with less compression.
installed by threaded in, compressing the O-ring.
Specify the mating face finish and squareness with the nut; a ring that is compressed on one side only will leak even at the correct torque.
| Drive Type | Torx Plus |
|---|---|
| Standard | GB/T 3452.1 (O-rings), GB/T 197 |
| Installation | threaded in, compressing the O-ring |
| Typical substrate | hydraulic, coolant and pneumatic circuits |
| Key inspections | leak/pressure hold, O-ring hardness, groove dimensions |
O-ring hardness (Shore A) and compression set are sampled to the GB/T 3452.1 series. We recommend a pilot assembly at the actual torque and mating part before locking the process parameters for volume.
