Bond strength depends on three things: surface preparation, adhesive thickness and cure. A bonded nut puts the thread on the blind side without a hole through the panel, so the visible face stays uninterrupted. Load is carried by the bonded base in shear, and the thread has to be protected from adhesive during bonding, since cured adhesive in the thread cannot be removed without damaging it.
Material: Carbon Steel / Stainless Steel. It is bonded with structural adhesive after the surfaces are prepared.
Use a masking plug or a thread-safe adhesive application; adhesive that reaches the thread has to be cleared before cure, not after.
| Material | Carbon Steel / Stainless Steel |
|---|---|
| Adhesive | Epoxy / Cyanoacrylate |
| Standard | GB/T 7124 (lap shear), customer drawing |
| Installation | structural adhesive after surface preparation |
| Typical substrate | composites, thin housings, decorative panels |
| Key inspections | pull-off/shear strength, bond-line thickness, ageing |
Pull-off and shear tests are sampled per lot, recording whether failure is interfacial or cohesive. We recommend a pilot assembly at the actual torque and mating part before locking the process parameters for volume.
